The Look in Her Eye

VS1 I saw the look in her eye she seemed to be saying help me

We knew each other so well she didn’t need to say the words

I saw the look in her eye and that was enough to tell me

We loved each other so much and that’s why we said goodbye

BR1 We were so much in love, We’d walk hand in hand

done everything together, Now she’s in another land

VS2 It was the look in her eye that helped me make my mind up

Although she couldn’t speak I sure knew what that look meant

When I saw the look in her eye she seemed to be saying I wanna end it

I lifted up my hands and that’s the time she died

MS She didn’t know my face, She could no longer smile

I saw she couldn’t live, I couldn’t watch her die

VS 4 now the p’liceman is here they’re saying what I did was murder

It can’t be murder for sure if you’re helping somebody out

It was a mercy I say and that’s why I tell this story

It’s a long time to wait but there’s nothing left to wait for

BR 2 A thousand miles away and a million years ago

The world is not the same you know it’s time to go

Composition Notes

It's been an ongoing debate for many years about should relatives be allowed to help someone die if they want to so this is from the point of view of someone who has decided to get involved and then gets into trouble with the law as a result. It was a hard song to sing TBH.
