A crying Shame [ D minor blues]
CHORUS Always been pushed around
Never been left alone
Always been told to wait
Now it’s just too late
who can say whos to blame
[STOPS] baby it’s a crying shame?
V1 Dreamed that I could play guitar
Thought that I could be a star
I Know now that it’s not right
Playing all through the night
Didn’t want to lose my touch
I think I just took too much
CHORUS Always been pushed around
[Guitar Solo]
V2 See the new guy walk in
He can really play that thing
If I had half his skill I’ would be the bassman still
He was only half may age
Now I’ll have to turn the page
CHORUS Always been pushed around
Composition Notes
The lyrics refer to the importance to me of playing in bands which has been ongoing since the early 1970's but I was unable to do from 1986 to 2009 due to working full time and having a young family. Verse 2 is about the only time I have been sacked from a band (in 1980) which I haven't forgotten.
The music is a traditional 12 bar blues in D minor with a riff on the fretless bass and features my signature heavily treated solo blues guitar sound
